So many people have asked how they can help, and the honest answer is that just following along and keeping Isaac in your thoughts already means the world to us. But since people keep asking, here are a few things that genuinely make a difference for him and for us.
Come say hello
If you know Isaac well, please don’t hesitate to come visit us while we’re in the hospital. The same goes if you know someone else going through a situation like this. Everyone is different, but I know for us, it really helps. Minutes can feel like days when you’re stuck in a hospital. Showing up for a quick hello, or dropping in for a round of Super Mario Life (Isaac’s favorite board game), means a lot to him and to us.
Send Isaac a letter or an email
Feel free to send Isaac an email or a letter. He’s learned to read really well this year, and this is a great way for him to practice while we’re in the hospital. He loves getting mail.
Monetary
We’re very blessed to live so close to the hospital. I’m also fortunate to be able to work remotely for an extremely understanding organization. There are so many families in these situations who are far less fortunate than we are, and we never forget that.
So please don’t ever feel any obligation. But if you’d like to chip in for Isaac’s toy fund or buy us a lunch while we’re here, we genuinely appreciate it. I think Isaac wants an electric drum set and ear phones :-).
Most of all, thank you. The messages, the prayers, the visits, and the friendship have carried us further than you know.
